An Exclusive Interview with Singulart’s Founders: Why Artists from Around the World Should Join The Singulart Prize 2025
The Singulart Prize is back and this time it’s even bigger- the Singulart Prize 2025 is here. With $10,000 prize pool, a great selection of jury members, and the theme “Deeply Human” this competition is for you, artists around the world. We had the opportunity to talk to Singulart co-founders, Véra Kempf and Brice Lecompte to better understand about the Prize’s mission, what is special about this edition, and how artists should prepare for it.
The Singulart Prize: A Platform for Visionaries
Singulart Magazine: Ok Véra, let us take a look at the broader perspective in this. What was the inspiration behind setting and establishing The Singulart Prize?
Véra Kempf: At Singulart, our goal has been to support artists and help them connect with audiences from across the world. The Prize is truly an extension of that mission. We wanted to celebrate creativity, innovation, and the unique perspectives artists bring to the world. It’s about giving them the recognition they deserve and creating opportunities for them to expand their horizons.
Brice Lecompte: Exactly. It’s not just about the awards; it’s about building connections. Through the Prize, artists from around the world gain visibility among collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts who share a deep appreciation for contemporary art.
What’s New in 2025?
Singulart Magazine: This is the fourth edition of The Singulart Prize. Where is it different from the other years?
Véra Kempf: This year, the theme “Deeply Human” is particularly special. Basically, we’re inviting artists to focus on the universal emotions and connections that define us. It’s a theme that resonates with everyone, and we’re excited to see how artists perceive it.
Brice Lecompte: We’ve also brought together an incredible jury. With leaders from Société Générale Collection, Magnum Photos, BMW Patronage, Polaroid, Illy Café, and Casetify, the jury represents a diverse mix of art, design, and innovation. This gives participants a unique chance to have their work evaluated by some of the great minds within the creative industries.
Singulart Magazine: Véra, could you tell us more about the rewards offered by The Singulart Prize and why these categories were chosen?
Véra Kempf: Of course! The $10,000 prize pool is divided into three distinctions: Artist of the Year ($6,000), Best Artist Under 30 ($2,000), and Best Limited Edition Work ($2,000). Each category is designed to celebrate different aspects of creativity.
For the Artist of the Year, we aim to honor overall excellence and originality. Best Artist Under 30 recognizes emerging talent, giving younger artists a platform to grow their careers. With Best Limited Edition Work, we want to highlight the incredible possibilities in limited editions, whether it’s photography, printmaking, or innovative mixed media.
In addition to these prizes, we’ve partnered with Casetify, who will offer the winning artist the opportunity to design a collection of their products. There’s also a special performance opportunity at the Carrousel du Louvre, and 500 museum-quality prints by Brooklyn Editions will donated to the winners.
But that’s not all—more surprises are still to come! This is not simply just about financial rewards; it’s about giving artists a platform to expand their reach and showcase their talent in unique and impactful ways.
Singulart Magazine: Brice, how long do artists have to apply?
Brice Lecompte: The deadline to submit is January 14, 2025. It’s important for artists to take their time to ensure their work aligns with the theme “Deeply Human” and reflects their best creative vision. After that, the jury will begin their deliberation, and the winners will be announced by the beginning of February.
