Anatoliy Anshin vit au Japon depuis plus de vingt ans. Docteur en histoire du Japon prémoderne, il a publié de nombreux articles universitaires et une monographie dans ce domaine. Il est également devenu professeur de kendo, art martial japonais. Plus tard dans sa vie, il s'est consacré à la photographie artistique, immortalisant la nature et les sites historiques du Japon.
La photographie d'Anshin ne s'attarde pas sur les clichés exotiques, ni ne se contente de capturer la beauté du Japon, aussi saisissante soit-elle. Elle vise à visualiser et à renouer avec la spiritualité d'une culture ancestrale qui, bien que souvent absente de la vie moderne, demeure accessible si l'on garde le cœur et l'esprit ouverts. Il espère que ses images deviendront des témoignages précieux de ce riche patrimoine culturel.
