Lia Chechelashvili is a a self-taught artist from Georgia. She works largely on minimal, monochromatic line paintings and digitally enhanced drawings.
Forms in Movement
She is inspired by the human form, especially the dynamism and visual interest of a body in motion, and the way that humans interact with each other and the space that surrounds them. She manipulates line in order to transform objects and and create rhythmic forms and constructions in a clear and minimalist style.
Chechelashvili likes her works to be as aesthetically concise as possible and so uses simple lines to create her imagery. Her works can be characterised by their dark backgrounds and clear white lines. Chechelashvili executes her line-orientated works mostly in gouache and acrylic paints. She also creates semi-abstract oil on canvas and cardboard pieces that focus on the same ideas of the human form in movement, yet explore the interplay of light and dark more so than her line paintings.
Chechelashvili has exhibited her work in exhibitions and international art fairs all around the world, in cities such as Miami, London, Paris and Madrid. Her work has featured in numerous German, French and American publications such as ArtisSpectrum Magazine.
