« All of art's power originates from the flesh. »
Rainer Ehrt, born 1960 in the Harz in Germany, lives and works in Kleinmachnow today. Pursuing his passion for illustration, drawing and painting, he began studying at the University of Art and Design in Halle in 1983, where he graduated with a diploma in 1988. During his studies, Rainer Ehrt developed an ironic-figurative imagery, which is still reflected in his works today.
German 20th century painting as his inspiration
In his works, which are representative of the real circumstances of our society, Rainer Ehrt, who was born in the former GDR, pursues the artistic tradition of critical realists such as Otto Dix, Käthe Kollwitz or Conrad Beckmann, which in turn are rooted in the Renaissance. Rainer Ehrt has developed a broad artistic spectrum since his studies, ranging from drawing, printmaking, painting and sculpturing to illustrations and cartoons.Lire la suite
