Rosso Emerald Crimson is an Italian artist, based in London, blurs the line between realist and surrealist., Before she was focusing solely on her paintings, she graduated in Human Rights and International Relations and briefly worked in Marketing. Primarily self-taught, she trained for at the Prince Drawing School and at LARA (London Atelier of Representational Art) in London.
When Realism meets Surrealism
Emerald Crimson’s art is deeply personal yet objective as it revolves around the human condition. She creates imaginary, timeless spaces made up of dreams, childhood memories and pure fantasies. She enjoys depicting pseudo-real figures who, just like carnival characters, impersonate themes, feelings and taboos commonly experienced. Using Traditionalist Techniques
Emerald Crimson is fascinated by classicist art, attempting to emulate a contemporary version of realism that is still rooted in the traditional artistic techniques and methods. Painting mainly with oil, she adapts her process according to her thematic themes. Emerald Crimson adopts different painting methods, such as direct "alla prima", or indirect, building up the painting in layers and glazing after a careful layout and underpainting.
Established Italian Artist in the UK
Rosso Emerald Crimson has earned British acclaim due to her strong UK presence. She won the Emerald Winter Pride Art Award in 2016 and The Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize 2017. She has also displayed work across London such as at Mall Galleries, Bloomsbury, and The Strand Gallery.Masquer
