저는 프랑스에 거주하는 이중 국적의 미국인입니다. 그림에 전념하기 전에는 아트 디렉터로 일했습니다.
저는 어린 시절부터 근시안이었습니다. 초점이 맞고 안 맞는 듯한 모호한 형태들이 늘 제 관심을 사로잡았습니다. 불분명한 외부 세계는 명확한 내면 세계를 만들어낼 수 있습니다. 저는 언뜻 보기에 임의적으로 보이는 것에서 끊임없이 의미를 찾아내고, 그 의미를 끌어냅니다. 이는 추상화의 역설이라고 할 수 있습니다.
저는 주로 독학으로 그림을 배우며, 여러 워크숍을 통해 보충 학습을 했습니다. 나무나 MDF 패널에 그림을 그립니다. 투명 유약을 얇게 발라 광채를 냅니다. 유화는 감각적인 색감을 선사하기 때문에 수채화도 사용하지만, 제가 가장 선호하는 재료입니다. 제 주제는 항상 제게 강렬한 감정을 불러일으키는 사람, 동물, 풍경입니다. 이러한 대상들을 통해, 무언가의 본질이 드러나는 순간, 그 만남 속에서 경험했던 덧없는 아름다움의 순간들을 포착하고자 노력합니다.
