저는 1961년 독일에서 태어났습니다. 1987년부터 1998년까지 암스테르담에 살면서 게리트 리트벨트 아카데미에서 회화를 공부했습니다. 1998년에는 수리남으로 이주하여 16년간 거주했습니다. 2014년부터는 독일로 돌아와 베를린에 거주하고 있습니다. 제 작업은 자연, 삶, 그리고 인간의 기본적인 조건들을 다룹니다. 우리의 정신적, 정신적 짐은 무엇이며, 우리는 그것을 어떻게 활용하는가? 삶에서 그다지 중요하지 않은 것은 무엇이고, 무엇이 필수적이고 본질적이며 피할 수 없는 핵심으로 남아 있는가? 열대 지방에서 16년간 완전히 다른 삶을 살면서 얻은 인상과 경험은 제 작업에 영향을 미쳤고, 당연하게 여기는 것과 "현실"에 대한 인식을 변화시켰습니다.
저는 다양한 종류의 작품을 만들며, 작품의 질도 각기 다릅니다. 예상치 못한 것들이 저절로 펼쳐지는 수채화의 흐르는 듯한 느낌과, 아크릴 물감의 묽고 흙빛이 도는 풍부한 색감을 좋아합니다. 하지만 가끔은 제 연금술적인 성향이 발동해서 온갖 재료를 실험해 보기도 합니다.
저는 다양한 종류의 작품을 만들며, 작품의 질도 각기 다릅니다. 예상치 못한 것들이 저절로 펼쳐지는 수채화의 흐르는 듯한 느낌과, 아크릴 물감의 묽고 흙빛이 도는 풍부한 색감을 좋아합니다. 하지만 가끔은 제 연금술적인 성향이 발동해서 온갖 재료를 실험해 보기도 합니다.
