Abstract Dance through Choreographic Lens - curated by Vlad Merariu

A curation by Vlad Merariu, Curator at Dance Artworks Gallery - Seen through a choreographer’s eye, these works stage movement without bodies. Pulse arrives as gesture: Marta Zawadzka and Kspersée burst like ensemble fireworks; Fintan Whelan turns paint in liquid spirals; Stéphane Daniel cuts a flickering frieze; Christine Barth Mroz holds a blue-grey suspension. Mila Weis’s diptych reads call-and-response, while Julia A. Etedi and Helena König build weight in muted layers. Adriano Ribeiro and Daniel Schär scratch footwork. Nathan Dean and Richard Solstjärna reduce the phrase to one breath-line. Daniel Rocher shifts the tempo to geometric-pop—vectors in counterweight and tilt. Katherine Evans brings a Matisse-like cut-out logic, choreographed for balance and syncopation. Between impact (spray, impasto, neon) and hush (monochrome veils), the rhythm remains unmistakably human.
