A curation by Zoe MN, Independent Curator at - Comme une menthe à l'eau is not a tribute to Eddy Mitchell but to the color green. The color of nature, renewal, and instability, green occupies a singular place in our imagination. Neither hot nor cold, neither fully stable nor entirely rebellious, it is the in-between of colors, the threshold of metamorphoses.
This exhibition explores the richness of green in artistic creation, through works where this color becomes material, symbol, sensation.
In his book Green, History of a Color, historian Michel Pastoureau points out that green has long been an ambivalent color: sometimes associated with luck, courtly love, and youth, sometimes with instability, poison, the devil, or lies. It only became the color of nature and ecology very recently, in the 20th century.
Here, green is displayed in all its complexity: soft or acid, vegetal or artificial, light or deep. It is the echo of an inner landscape, the trace of hope or tension, the promise of transformation.
Both a field of possibilities with technological green screens and a bad omen in the theater, green makes us sway deep within ourselves.
