Monday Blues: Abstractions - curated by Juliana Angulo

A curation by Juliana Angulo, Art Historian, Curator, and Advisor at FAREX & Singulart - Blue has long been used by artists as a primary vessel for expression and emotion. In the 18th century, sailors raised blue flags when a crew member was lost. By the 19th century, “feeling blue” had become a synonym for sadness. Picasso dedicated years of his life to this hue during his “Blue Period”, characterized by melancholy, mystery, and introspection. In his own words, “I started painting in blue when I learned of Casagemas’s passing.” However, not all blue artworks convey nostalgia. They can also exude hope, tranquility, and spirituality. This collection of abstract works explores the color through geometry, expressive brushstrokes, and depth. Shapes and forms intertwine in a cool palette of various tones, connecting through dynamism and uplifting energy. This series is a journey within creativity and imagination, transforming the “Monday Blues” into a moment of optimism and inspiration.
