Morphology - curated by Raffaella Nobili

A curation by Raffaella Nobili, Owner and curator at Paraventi Giapponesi - The works gathered in this selection demonstrate how time operates as a formal agent. The photographic surfaces not only represent landscapes, but also document slow processes: erosion, sedimentation, fractures, smoothing. They are structures that record transformations that occurred on timescales beyond human experience. Rocks, canyons, dunes, and boulders appear as "natural cathedrals," complex forms generated by geological factors that can evolve with or without human intervention. Desaturation emphasizes the morphological aspect: lines, volumes, and textures become readable as forms, not just manifestations of the natural sublime. The proposed selection favors the formal clarity and incisiveness of black and white as a timeless interpretative key, capable of removing the landscape from the chronicle of its history and restoring it as nature become form: almost eternal in its presence, yet always in transformation.
