SINGULART is honored to have been able to collaborate with Alexandra Link and the German ELLE to celebrate the international Women's day. Both the gallery and the magazine have shown their support and empowerment for women. ELLE.de even has it's own channel called "Female Empowerment" where Alexandra and her colleagues write about equal rights and other topics on modern feminism, and of course about "Perfectly Imperfect". We had the pleasure to interview Alexandra Link on her passions, female empowerment and why she wanted to be part of this project. You can find the article here.
Today we are facing quite a two-pronged ideal of Beauty. On the one hand we have the picture perfect posts of influencers on social media like Instagram. On the other hand we see more and more diverse ideals of beauty embracing age, body images and ethnical backgrounds. And that is what I love about our time right now. Everything is changing, we are changing and we are changing our perception of a woman. Of course there is still a lot to do in equal rights but in our times there is so much more freedom for women (especially in western parts of the world) if you compare it with the 60ies for example. And I think it is our duty to be brave to take this freedom and empower other women to do so as well and to express ourselves.
These 30 artworks of women from all over the world are a perfect example for this. In each of them we we see different perspectives on this topic showing that ageing, body figures and “imperfections” are just beautiful. It just about how you look at it.
