A curation by Giulia Falcone, Art Expert || • Curator • Senior Advisor • Critic • Mentor at International Galleries and Institutions - Every emotion leaves an invisible trace — a signal the body
translates into memory, gesture, movement. In the works of
award-winning artist Juca Máximo, what we see is never just a
figure: it is the form the soul takes when it tries to become
matter.
In his solo exhibition Shadows and Signals, in dialogue with FIAC
and Art Basel Paris, Máximo explores the inner structure of
emotion — suspended between the intimate depth of absence
and the vital energy of the invisible connections that unite us.
The psychic fibers of fragmented bodies, hiding them
vulnerabilities behind masks, find space and completion in the
emotional resonance of those who observe them.
In this dialogue, as silent as it is dense, the shadows of oblivion
are crossed by ethereal currents. They carry with them vitality,
lightness, and the Nietzschean acceptance of Amor Fati — to
love one's destiny as an act of total presence. Like beams of
light, the lines that composed his figures transmit the vibrations
of life.
Thus, silence becomes movement, and Máximo's painting
becomes an anatomy of the invisible — a space where the
body resonates, and fragility turns into light.
