A curation by Juliana Angulo, Art Historian, Curator, and Advisor at FAREX & Singulart - Since the 19th century, artists have explored the human spirit through photography, inspired by the belief that cameras could expose unseen dimensions. Orbs, auras, specters, and phantoms were said to appear in photographs, offering a glimpse of the afterlife. Most of these images were merely double exposures, introducing light effects and motion into art. During the 20th century, Italian Futurism deeply explored notions of movement and speed, rejecting static representations and depicting rhythm within their pieces. This collection also reflects a fascination with mystical vibrations, portraying ephemeral moments when humans seem to be transformed into energy. With great dynamism, these works possess mysterious qualities: blurred forms, shifting lights, ethereal movements, and multiple perspectives. The subjects almost appear supernatural and non-human. In homage to this season’s celebrations, from the Day of the Dead to Halloween, this series transports the viewer into haunting yet poetic atmospheres.
