A curation by Juliana Angulo, Art Historian, Curator, and Advisor at FAREX & Singulart - A collection revisiting Man Ray’s masterpiece “Le Violon d’Ingres” (1924), where a female body appears transformed into a musical instrument. Taking inspiration from the Surrealist and Dada movements, where humor, mystery, and expression adopt primary roles, this series offers creative compositions that defy reality. Black-and-white photographs present playful interpretations of the female form, depicting women not only in sensual or traditional ways, but rather fragmented, distorted, and liberated. A horse’s tail attached to a pair of legs, a bent torso with balloons, a cooking pot replacing a face, and eating utensils placed on hips, are among the unexpected elements that add layers of symbolism. Women become blank canvases for exploration and imagination, transforming the body into vehicles for fantasy. A contemporary reflection on femininity and human perception, where figuration melts into abstraction.
