The yellow that makes you happy - curated by Zoe MN

A curation by Zoe MN, Independent Curator at - Sometimes all it takes is a field of sunflowers to lighten the heart. A bright, almost insolent yellow that captures the light, reflects it, and amplifies it. The sunflower, by turning toward the sun, seems to pursue a promise of warmth and life. When light is lacking, the plant seeks another source: it turns to its fellow human beings. This instinctive gesture is also a metaphor for our vulnerable yet united human condition, which connects us to one another. Michel Pastoureau reminds us that yellow has not always been the color of happiness. Long ambivalent, it has been associated with betrayal, jealousy, and lies. However, the yellow of the sunflower escapes these ambiguous symbols. It is a sunny, joyful, lively yellow. A yellow which, according to Pastoureau, is today "the color of optimism, modernity, positive energy." This exhibition is an ode to this color that brightens everyday life.
