Zijn kenmerkende landschappen, stedelijke landschappen en fantastische "sprookjesscènes", die op een traditionele manier creëren, weerspiegelen zijn liefde voor schoonheid, diversiteit en uniciteit. In zijn artistieke proces creëert Piven uitsluitend met olieverf op gegronde doeken.
