Bongeun Koo is een schilder met een diepe longitudinale bewondering voor postmiddeleeuwse kunst uit de 14e tot en met de 17e eeuw. Hij gebruikt een samensmelting van technieken zoals sfumato en stippelen om zijn intenties te symboliseren; zijn schilderijen geven dramatische scènes weer die zijn emotionele toestanden actief belichamen. Koo's werk navigeert door de woelige zeeën van introspectie, wat een voortdurende dialoog weerspiegelt met zowel wanhoop als hoop.
