Elena Piven is een in Duitsland gevestigde kunstenaar wiens schilderijen zowel nationaal als in Rusland op grote schaal zijn geëxposeerd. Met haar landschappen, stadslandschappen, portretten en stillevens geeft ze de complexiteit en subtiliteit weer die in het dagelijks leven voorkomen. Piven gelooft dat het belangrijk is om stil te staan bij de schoonheid van simpele dingen. Ze maakt gebruik van de klassieke materialen van olieverf op doeken met primer.
