« Ik creëer kleurrijke, warme en vrolijke kunst - net als mijn thuisland. Door mijn grafische ontwerp en illustratieachtergrond kon ik mijn stijl diversifiëren naar illustratieve, geometrische en expressionistische thema's. »
Ilaamen Pelshaw is een in de Verenigde Staten gevestigde Guatemalteekse schilder wiens werk nationaal is vertoond in solo- en groepsshows. Pelshaw groeide op bij een grootvader die kunstenaar en muralist was en raakte zelf geïnteresseerd in kunst en ontwikkelde een praktijk die gericht was op positiviteit en warmte. Haar werk, meestal in acryl op canvas, is altijd kleurrijk en gebaseerd op illustraties, of het nu gaat om eigenzinnige dierenportretten of schilderijen van Latijns-Amerikaanse cultuur en ambachten.
