Ivan Korshunov is een bekroonde Russische kunstenaar wiens schilderijen zowel nationaal als in Nederland, België, Letland en China zijn tentoongesteld. Hij is gefascineerd door het concept dat kunst een complexe combinatie is van objectieve realiteit en subjectieve perceptie. Korshunovs hyperrealistische schilderijen onderzoeken deze opvatting door herkenbare beelden uit de geschiedenis, religie en hedendaagse populaire cultuur anachronistisch in lagen te leggen. Hij maakt gebruik van de traditionele technieken van de oude meesters, voornamelijk met olieverf op doek.
