Jay Chung is een Koreaanse kunstenaar die in Dallas woont en wiens figuratieve schilderijen ingaan op de ingewikkelde wisselwerking tussen fysieke realiteiten en innerlijke toestanden van zijn. In zijn nieuwste werk verbeeldt Chung de menselijke figuur opnieuw, waarbij hij verder gaat dan traditionele representatie om een "alternatief" perspectief te bieden - een perspectief dat de bewuste en onbewuste dimensies van ons bestaan in de wereld vastlegt.
Op zijn doeken krijgen emoties vorm als dynamische, dromerige vormen, vaak vervaagd, zwevend of gegrond in abstracte ruimtes. Deze composities roepen de denkbeeldige landschappen van onze psychologische, maatschappelijke en verbeeldingsvolle levens op, en nodigen kijkers uit om zich te verdiepen in de complexe lagen van de menselijke ervaring.
