Linda Mitchell is een prijswinnende Amerikaanse artiest met internationale bekendheid. Haar mixed-media schilderijen en installaties worden bevolkt door dieren - zowel echt als ingebeeld. In deze verhalende werken worden de dieren vaak surrogaten voor mensen en hun emotionele leven. De schilderijen zijn vaak zeer gestructureerd en gemaakt met geschilderde en fotografische afbeeldingen, stof, hout, glas en gevonden voorwerpen. Ze versmelten tot ingewikkelde en surrealistische scènes, die de emotionele complexiteit van het leven weerspiegelen.
