Sol KJOK in de studio: The "Spiraling Smoke" paintings can be displayed in all directions, as their story is one of constant flux. I aim for a continuous quality where nothing has an endpoint, and one movement flows into the next, like a ribbon.

Sol KJOK in de studio: I want my images to work like music: a vibrating chord that connects instantly with something deep and joyous. I am hoping for that moment "when something shatters like ice and we are in the river of our existence. We are aware."(Louise Erdrich)

Sol KJOK in de studio: Any physical process of creation, like the act of healing, therapeutic touch and loving embraces, involves the hands as powerful ministers of our thoughts and spiritual energies. The painting resonates with the chi that was poured into its making.

Sol KJOK in de studio: My studio, aka Last Frontier NYC, occasionally serves as presentation arena for international artists across multiple disciplines: a campfire where the creative tribe can share its stories.

Sol KJOK in de studio: One of oldest symbols known to humans, the spiral can mean many things: the slow reveal of things that are hidden; growth and evolution, continual motion; coming back to the same point in one's life, but with a new and better understanding.

Sol KJOK in de studio: "The spirit likes to dress up like this: ten fingers, ten toes, shoulders, and all the rest at night in the black branches, in the morning in the blue branches of the world. It could float, of course, but would rather plumb rough matter.” (M.Oliver)
