Umberto Stefanelli, een voormalige New Yorker die zijn kunst in Japan ontdekte, legt beelden vast met het tastbare maar ongrijpbare medium licht. Als zelfbenoemde 'Bordeaux-garageman' portretteren zijn foto's rauwe passies en onuitgesproken emoties door middel van een abstracte surrealiteit, waaraan diepte wordt toegevoegd door de kunst van het aftrekken. Ontdaan van pretenties en geworteld in de onbekende golven van emotie, verpersoonlijkt Stefanelli's werk op opmerkelijke wijze het naamloze elan.
