« Mijn interesse als beeldend kunstenaar is om de wanhopige schoonheid in abnormaliteit te vatten, en om de effecten ervan op het menselijk leven, in de menselijke ervaring, in beeld te brengen. »
Veronica Huacuja is een Mexicaanse kunstenaar wiens schilderijen zowel nationaal als in het Verenigd Koninkrijk zijn tentoongesteld. Ze beschrijft haar mix van figuratieve en abstracte kunstwerken als "obscuur", die de menselijke conditie uitbeeldt. Huacuja onderzoekt de mensheid en haar precaire omstandigheden door middel van tijdelijkheid, decadentie, ziekte en pijn. Ze gebruikt medische studies die zijn uitgevoerd op anonieme, zieke of geslachtloze mensen als inspiratie, en verwijst naar de resultaten van haar composities als "Human Landscapes".
