Xenia Prokhorova is een bekroonde Russische schilderes die haar werken zowel nationaal als in de Verenigde Staten heeft tentoongesteld. De dialectische aard van het bestaan, de individualiteit, de zoektocht naar intimiteit en de openbaring van het menselijke karakter zijn belangrijke thema's in haar kunst. Prokhorova gelooft dat het innerlijke karakter van een persoon tot uiting komt in hun unieke en specifieke lichaamsmobiliteit. Haar meta-expressionistische composities creëren een omgeving die bestaat uit scherpe hoeken en ongebruikelijke perspectieven, ongelijke penseelstreken en gestructureerde decoratieve patronen.
