Through playful manipulation, new and authentic visuals emerge, serving as the foundation for these abstract creations. Once the digital artwork is finalized, it is printed and mounted onto a canvas, carefully overlaid with gel mediums to build texture. The piece is then enhanced with layers of acrylics, oils, and oil pastels and finished with a satin gloss…

Karin Vermeer is een onafhankelijke kunstenaar die sinds 2002 in Rotterdam woont en werkt. Haar werken ontstaan door het digitaal combineren en bewerken van foto's en schilderijen tot nieuwe, originele kunstwerken. Vermeer is gespecialiseerd in portretten die zijn gemaakt door vier tot vijf verschillende gezichten, van verschillende afkomst en afkomst, over elkaar heen te leggen en te vermengen, om een nieuwe, niet-bestaande persoon te creëren. De digitale beelden worden geprint en verf wordt toegevoegd om het eindresultaat te bereiken: een poging om een digitaal beeld weer tastbaar te maken.
