Hannelie Coetzee ist eine preisgekrönte Bildhauerin aus Südafrika, deren Werke sowohl national als auch in Schweden ausgestellt wurden. Sie beschreibt ihren künstlerischen Prozess als "Sinn für die Welt, indem sie Dinge macht". Aufgrund ihres Respekts und ihrer Sorge um die Umwelt verwendet Coetzee natürliche Materialien, meistens Industrieabfälle, und bildet "unwahrscheinliche Partnerschaften". Während ihre Kompositionen manchmal dauerhaft sind, sind sie oft vergänglich.
