The painting is a contrast, a contradiction. On one side: a calm night landscape filled with magic, on the other: there is something unsettling in this fairy-tale serenity. A mighty tree, on which someone has thoughtfully hung lanterns to make the darkness of the forest less frightening. A river, stretching into the distance, illuminated by the bright light of the moon, symbolizing our life's journey. Every day, we search for answers,… for the truth that we sometimes can only find by passing through the darkness of doubts, fears, and solitude. The dark forest, the water reflecting the light, the clear shadows, and the soft glow symbolize that light and darkness, good and evil, clarity and mystery, always coexist together.
