This expressive artwork portrays the head of a man whose hair rises wildly and dynamically — a symbol of life’s turbulence. Like a structure standing firm in a storm, the upright hair gives the portrait intense energy. Surrounding air and water bubbles represent idle chatter, creating an atmosphere of liveliness and constant change.
Painted on a large piece of denim carefully mounted on canvas and framed with rustic elements, the work gains depth… and a tactile, earthy character. The poured base elements were developed in connection with the artist’s life’s work, the outdoor frieze BÄRN‑ART, the world’s largest frieze ever created by a woman.

Arthena MAXX ist eine österreichische Mixed-Media-Künstlerin, deren Werk Malerei, textile Innovation und experimentelle Materialtechniken zu einer unverwechselbaren Bildsprache vereint. Sie schuf die Towel-Art und die Jeansfabric Artworks, zwei charakteristische Formate, in denen Handtücher, Stoffe und Denim in skulpturale, reliefartige Oberflächen verwandelt werden, die mit Öl, Acryl, Tinte und Metallpigmenten interagieren. Ihr Œuvre umfasst 65 Serien mit rund 1900 Kunstwerken, darunter der weltweit größte von einer Frau geschaffene Fries im Freien, realisiert in Bärnbach (38 × 3,5 m). MAXX erforscht Themen wie Identität, Wahrnehmung, Verletzlichkeit und soziale Spannungen.
