Ju Lee is a Korea-born, Germany-based figurative painter whose work explores the tension between personal experience, art history and contemporary visual culture.
Her paintings transform familiar figures, everyday situations and fragments of contemporary imagery into dreamlike and psychologically charged scenes. Through ambiguity and subtle tension, she explores themes of power, violence, manipulation and social expectations, questioning the boundary between reality and constructed images.
Ju Lee studied Fine Arts in Seoul and completed her diploma in Painting at Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel. Her work has been exhibited in Germany and internationally, and she has participated in independent contemporary art projects and curatorial initiatives.
Based in Kiel, Ju Lee continues to develop a distinctive figurative practice that combines contemporary imagery, art-historical references and personal observation.
