In "Celestial Bloom", veils of raspberry, rosé and turquoise fall over a dark horizon, much like northern lights above the sea. Golden accents glow between the vertical layers of colour, while the lower part of the painting rests in deep ultramarine, dense, textured and scattered with bright specks.
The work lives from this contrast: above, movement, lightness and colour; below, depth and stillness. Where the two meet, the boundary is not sharp… but restless, like a line of surf at night. For me, this painting is about the moment when something opens up, and about how light often appears most clearly against a dark background. The shimmer of the surface changes with every shift of light.
