Anatoliy Anshin vive in Giappone da oltre 20 anni. Ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in storia giapponese premoderna e ha pubblicato numerosi articoli accademici e una monografia sull'argomento. È anche diventato insegnante di Kendo, la disciplina giapponese della scherma. In tarda età, ha iniziato a immortalare la natura e i siti storici del Giappone attraverso la fotografia d'arte.
La fotografia di Anshin non si concentra su stereotipi esotici, né si limita a catturare ciò che è giapponese, per quanto bello possa apparire. Il suo obiettivo è visualizzare e riconnettersi con la spiritualità di una cultura antica che, sebbene spesso assente nella vita quotidiana moderna, è ancora accessibile se manteniamo il cuore e la mente aperti. L'artista spera che le sue immagini possano fungere da punti di riferimento per questo ricco e significativo patrimonio culturale.
