Aomi Kikuchi è un pluripremiato artista tessile giapponese le cui opere sono state esposte a livello nazionale, nonché negli Stati Uniti e in Corea del Sud. La sua arte si basa sull'estetica giapponese e sulla filosofia del Buddha, che possono essere riassunte in tre concetti centrali: impermanenza, inconsistenza e sofferenza. Affascinata dalla bellezza della tintura Yuzen, una tradizionale tecnica di tintura giapponese per i kimono, Kikuchi ha dedicato quasi tre decenni all'apprendimento delle dieci fasi del suo processo, che incorpora nella sua arte.
