Born in Paris in 1952, Michèle Kaus is a figurative painter based in Normandy. Inspired by her numerous travels in Africa, Asia and Guadeloupe, but also by the beaches in Normandy, her work is an invitation to dream and to escapism.
From jewellery to painting
Painting since adolescence, Michèle Kaus was trained through courses in graphic art at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in Paris and by attending several workshops in the capital. She then worked for more than 15 years in one of the big jewellers in the Place Vendôme, Cartier, and in 1994, decided to exchange her taste for beautiful materials and refined gestures for painting. So, she then set up her own studio and dedicated herself fully to her art by mastering different techniques such as working with a palette knife. “I like working directly with paste, the feeling of a fresh and malleable material.”Leggere di più
A painter of nature
Michèle Kaus has drawn inspiration from her extensive travels and defines herself as a « painter of nature. » Her preferred subjects are every element of the flora and fauna that surround us and the beaches of the Côte Fleurie in Normandy. However, painting the sky and the light of Normandy, the flamboyant colours of Africa or the rice fields of Vietnam, the artist captures on canvas the essence of these landscapes and invites us to marvel at them. Always in a figurative style, she uses light to underline the contrasts and doesn’t hesitate in distancing herself from convention in order to bring a certain singularity to her work.
From Normandy to the World
Now living in Normandy, Michèle Kaus exhibits in different galleries around the world. In France of course, but also abroad, notably in Morocco and Australia. Having been established for some years in Honfleur, one of the capitals of impressionism, her studio has become one of the chosen places of passage for amateur painters from all over the world, from America to China passing via Singapore.Nascondere
