« Quando la polvere si deposita su una determinata superficie, inizia a trasformare quella superficie in una sorta di disegno. Quando creo una scultura di polvere, sollevo quel disegno e lo rimodellamento. »
Il fascino di Paul Hazelton per la polvere derivava da una privazione da queste forme spesso non apprezzate di materia. Cresciuto in una casa incontaminata, l'artista visuale britannico è stato solo autorizzato a disegnare con una matita nella cornice sterile di un tavolo coperto, dove anche la polvere della matita di grafite veniva rapidamente levigata e ripulita. Queste particelle proibite in seguito avrebbero preoccupato la sua pratica.
