Anfissa Vassé is an Italian contemporary painter who lives and works in Rome. She graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, earning her First-Level Academic Diploma with highest honors (110 cum laude) and receiving the prestigious Academic Kiss Award.
Her artistic research is centered on the universal theme of love, explored through a symbolic and essential visual language. The core of her work is the painting series “Kisses,” in which love is represented through legendary and symbolic couples, including Romeo and Juliet, Cupid and Psyche, Adam and Eve, Caesar and Cleopatra, and extending to icons of the contemporary world such as Marilyn Monroe.
The lips, placed prominently in the foreground, become a universal symbol of union and desire. This poetic interpretation is complemented by the definition proposed by the art critic Gabriele Simongini, who describes the artist’s style as “Byzantine Pop Art”
