Su quest'opera
The painting was awarded the Talent Prize at the 14th Teravarna Open Call.
In this work, I sought to express the intense inner struggle that dwells within every human being, through a figure both imposing and luminous, suspended between dream and reality. The blurred contours and contrasting colors embody the weight of sacrifice and the mystery of existence. This painting invites the viewer to feel this profound tension and to immerse themselves… in a universe where the tangible merges with the invisible. The work explores themes of sacrifice, death, and transformation through a distorted central figure engaged in a ritual act. The luminous white surface of the figure suggests the human aspiration toward a spiritual dimension—an aspiration disrupted by the beastly and visceral nature of sacrifice. The animal skull functions as a symbolic marker of the unwavering bond between humanity and mortality.
