In 2004 there’s not a linear narrative, nor a literal moment in time, but rather an emotional imprint: a recollection of warmth, laughter, and effortless togetherness; the concept of family.
The painting is instinctive, layered, and physical. I chose to work with acrylic and plaster on wood because I needed a surface that felt raw and alive — something that could hold the weight of memory. The figures are blurred, semi-formed, almost spectral.… They rise and dissolve into the reds: the color of blood.
There’s a child leaping, a tall figure hovering protectively, an embrace that might have happened — or maybe never did.
