클라라 라미레스 카츠는 콜롬비아 메데인에서 태어났습니다. 그녀는 1979년부터 파리에 거주하며 일하고 있습니다.
작가는 École supérieure des Arts appliqués et métiers d'arts(ENSAAMA)에서 처음으로 텍스타일 디자인을 배웠고, 이후 École superrieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode(ESMOD)에서 패션 디자인을 계속 공부했습니다. 청소년기부터 예술계에 대한 애정을 보였던 이 예술가는 결국 직물계에서 벗어나 플라스틱 창작에 전적으로 헌신하기로 결심했습니다.
클라라 라미레스 카츠는 이후 포트 로얄 아카데미에서, 그 다음에는 파리 뉴 스쿨의 이질적인 운동을 대표하는 화가이자 조각가인 창립자 장 베르톨(1909-1996)의 지도를 받으며 생 로크 아카데미에서 계속 수학했습니다.
