About this artwork
The Reflets series is a fragmented and abstract vision of the undergrowth, exuberant and humid, where the terrestrial presence is as important as the lake presence. Thus, the reflections are also linked to the representation of water, which I have materialized in other series, by flat areas of color that are sometimes calm, sometimes torrential. The shapes overlap each other, the color is controlled, the paint circulates and moves. Often composed… of diptych formats to enhance and extend the compositions, this series of paintings is both expansive and plastic, the masses are bursting with color. Very graphic in nature. The color vibrates and recreates a burst of nature. The palette is arbitrary, because as in all of his work, it bends to the sensations and the balance that the artist seeks between shadow and light.
Clara Ramirez Katz was born in Medellin, Colombia. She moved to Paris in 1979, where she lives and works.
The artist first learned textile design at the École supérieure des arts appliqués et métiers d'arts (ENSAAMA), then continued her studies in fashion design at the École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode (ESMOD). Having shown a tropism for the world of art since her adolescence, the artist ultimately decided to free herself from the world of textiles to devote herself entirely to plastic creation.
Clara Ramírez Katz then continued her training at the Port Royal Academy and then at the Saint Roch Academy under the guidance of the founder Jean Bertholle (1909-1996), a painter and engraver representative of the heterogeneous movement, the New School of Paris.
