Julia Ismambetova ist eine kasachisch-kanadische Malerin, deren Arbeit international bekannt ist. Ihre Kunstwerke sind auf feiner usbekischer Seide gemalt und verwenden Archivstandardfarben und -wachse, die aus Europa und Zentralasien importiert wurden. Ihre Materialkombination ist die Ansammlung von mehr als 20 Jahren Studium. Ihre Bilder entstehen, indem die Farben mit einem Pinsel allmählich auf die Oberfläche der Seide aufgetragen werden, beginnend mit den hellsten Tönen, bis sie zu dunkleren Tönen fließen, die Farben hervorheben und sie überlagern, bis sie vibrieren. Mit heißem Wachs, das später aus dem Gemälde entfernt wird, fügt Ismambetova den einzigartigen Effekt von Spritzern und feinen Risslinien hinzu.
