Rigid grids of serial rectangles that seem to grow organically, leaving their high-gloss surface, become touchable and seem to grow organically. And yet there is more to it than just a technical implementation of digital design possibilities, since his pictures are based on classical art-historical topoi. For example, the rigour of the composition of the picture reminds us of… the constructivists of classical modernism, the paint application and course of American action painting or the golden backgrounds of the rapture of the motifs in Byzantine tradition. Fredes' pictures carefully and vividly translate these traditions into our increasingly digital cultural horizons.

Der deutsche Künstler Danny Frede ist 1982 in Sondershausen geboren. Er lebt heute in Köln, wo er als freischaffender Künstler vielseitig in den Bereichen Fotografie, Malerei und Grafik tätig ist. In seinen Werken übersetzt er traditionelle Konzepte der Malerei in die immer mehr von digitalen Prozessen geprägte Sichtweise des Alltags.
