Consisting of 5 large-scale works, this series was created in the context of an extensive practice of various process-oriented techniques, which are primarily concerned with dealing with blockages and are to a certain extent a result of these exercises.
The line here was to unfold from "nothing" into "nothing", the task was to work without a task. Not to compose, to remain unimpressed by the size of the format, not to slip into seriousness. To… truly create freely, without templates and without the prefabricated idea of an image.
These works are to be understood as documents, less as works that can be judged as successful or unsuccessful. They are testimony to a long and difficult process, which must naturally reflect failure and triumph in equal measure.

Julia Holtmann ist eine deutsche bildende Künstlerin mit Sitz in Spanien. Sie hat einen Master of Fine Arts der Universität Málaga und einen Bachelor of Arts der Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg. Sie arbeitet hauptsächlich mit Graphitzeichnungen und verwendet dabei oft natürliche Materialien. Ihre Kunst ist geprägt von rituellem, automatischem Zeichnen, wobei sie gegensätzliche Kräfte wie Enthüllung und Verbergen erforscht und Techniken wie Blindzeichnen und Überschreiben einsetzt, um Bewusstsein und Trauma zu ergründen. Durch mehrdeutige Abstraktionen zwischen Vertrautem und Rätselhaftem schafft sie eindrucksvolle, vielschichtige Bilder. Ihre Kunst strahlt Spannung und Gelassenheit aus und lädt den Betrachter zu einer kontemplativen Auseinandersetzung mit der Realität und der Komplexität menschlicher Erfahrung ein.
