« Il y a un fil qui traverse ma vie reliant tous les événements et professions que j'ai exercés. La danse, la musique et l'écriture étaient tous des volets qui se fondaient dans l'ensemble qui est pour moi la peinture abstraite. »
Ellen Shire est un ancien membre du New York City Ballet, un écrivain à succès et illustrateur de livres pour enfants, ainsi qu'un peintre abstrait. Mme Shire déclare que sa vie est définie par l'art. Plutôt que de simplement faire une image, l'artiste basé à New York crée une expérience et un équilibre entre la lumière, l'espace, le mouvement et la simplicité. Elle travaille à l'aide de plusieurs médiums, dont les huiles, les acryliques, la gouache, le graphite et le papier mâché sur toile.
