Marcel van Beek travaille la photographie, la peinture et le graphisme, s'appuyant sur sa formation artistique acquise lors de ses études à l'Université Alanus des Arts et des Sciences Sociales. Sa technique allie influences pictorialistes et imagerie romantique-symboliste. Ses photographies incarnent la photographie d'art contemporaine et la photographie conceptuelle, présentant souvent des recolorations monochromes en couleurs tertiaires.
Il crée un langage visuel poétique qui s'intéresse aux formes et aux structures, qu'il allie à une approche conceptuelle moderne et revendique une pertinence sociale. Dans ses œuvres, il explore des paysages intérieurs et extérieurs, transmettant des sentiments de désir et de menace, ainsi qu'une fascination pour l'invisible. Il a publié plusieurs ouvrages d'art (dont le plus récent « World of Water », 2025), qui sont représentés dans des bibliothèques d'académies et de musées internationaux (notamment à Vienne, Bâle, Düsseldorf et Berlin).
