Mikael B is a Danish contemporary artist who currently resides in Los Angeles, USA. Inspired by his background in graphic design and graffiti, his work is characterised by its use of bold colour and geometric forms.
Passion for art
Mikael B was always creative as a child, and in his teenage years he experimented with graffiti in southwest Copenhagen, painting under the alias ‘KETS”. He then pursued graphic design but felt that this did not offer him creative freedom and independence, so he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in fine art.
Mikael B is influenced by wildstyle graffiti, a complex form of street art where forms, words and letters are woven together. By combining this with vibrant colours and geometric forms, Mikael B seeks to create a dynamic universe which visualises complex emotion. His background in design is evidenced through his use of complementary colours, which creates a bold and visually overwhelming work.
Mikael B has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in the US and overseas, in Spain and his native Denmark. He was a featured artist at the Scope show at Art Basel Miami, and has been featured in numerous publications, such as the LA Times and Graffiti Art Magazine.
