« Lorsque la poussière se dépose sur une surface, elle commence à la transformer en une sorte de dessin. Quand je fais une sculpture de poussière, je soulève ce dessin et lui donne une nouvelle forme. »
La fascination de Paul Hazelton pour la poussière trouve ses origines dans la privation : élevé dans un foyer immaculé, l’artiste visuel britannique n’avait le droit de dessiner que sur une table protégée à cet effet, où même la poussière de son crayon graphite était rapidement gommée et nettoyée. Ces particules interdites coloniseraient plus tard sa pratique artistique.
