When I created this work, I wanted to capture the raw, chaotic and euphoric energy of sport as seen through the eyes of a sports observer, or even a dreamer. I sought to convey the tension between collective joy and inner confusion.
The repetitive, colourful crowd in the background symbolises the pressure of others' gazes, of society observing and judging. In the centre, the player is frozen in a powerful pose, but his gaze is lost, hypnotised.
I… also wanted to talk about performance, about the need to do "more" — like the cry on the left: "MORE". It is an injunction, a driving force, but also a threat.
My goal was not to paint a basketball game, but to paint emotion.

Philippe Seigle, peintre basé en France, a exposé ses œuvres à l'échelle nationale, ainsi qu'au Brésil, en Italie, aux États-Unis, au Mexique et au Maroc. Ayant vécu dans plusieurs pays exotiques, Seigle a été influencé et a gardé son penchant pour les couleurs vives. Se décrivant comme un coloriste naïf, ses compositions mettent en scène des personnages dont les chemins se croisent. Ses pièces vibrantes sont créées à l'aide d'acryliques sur toile.
